installing forked-daapd
All,

I would like to install forked daapd to my raspberry pi so it can serve up my music to iTUnes.

How do you install it on raspbmc?

Thanks.

RE: installing forked-daapd
I don't think that will work, at least not on RC4 which is raspbian based. Those instructions specify debian squeeze, the older version. See also: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewto...pd#p146419

You could try following those instructions & specifying wheezy instead of squeeze but I get the feeling that won't work either - you probably need to look into building from source. Best of luck!

RE: installing forked-daapd
Please note I haven't tried to build forked-daapd but these should be the steps to try:

Install tools needed to build software from source
Code:
sudo apt-get install build-essential

Then download the latest source tarball for forked-dappd from http://alioth.debian.org/~jblache/forked-daapd/ and unpack it. Make sure you're in the directory where the source files are located, then:
Code:
./configure
make
make install
Hopefully this will work without any errors.

Finally you need to make sure you have all forked-dappd's dependencies installed. Use apt-get to install any that you're missing, if that fails, you may need to build them from source also.

I have made some progress, iTunes now sees the Raspberry and can play from it, but drops the connection after 5 mins. Check my blog entry, and let me know if you have more success!
